چکیده
Background The recent literature confirms that perineal rectosigmoidectomy sec. Altemeier in the case of a full-thickness rectal prolapse represents, to the state, the procedure of choice even if burdened by a relatively high recurrence rate. Some authors oppose the transabdominal rectopexy to the perineal resection with or without resection of the sigma, with or without the aid of prosthesis, sustaining the Altemeier cause of fecal incontinence.

and internal prolapse. Rectal prolapse is an anatomic abnormality and requires surgical resection. Numerous procedures have been described for the treatment of complete rectal prolapse, and these are classified as perineal or abdominal approaches. Perineal procedures such as the Delorme procedure, Altemeier operation (perineal rectosigmoidectomy), Thiersch procedure (anal encirclement), McCann ...

INTRODUCTION More than 80% of patients with full-thickness rectal prolapse have co-existing fecal incontinence. Choosing the ideal surgical strategy is always a difficult task. We combined an Altemeier rectosigmoid resection with anal dynamic graciloplasty to provide a functional neosphincter. We found no published reports describing this surgical association. CASE PRESENTATION We report the ...

OBJECTIVE The stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) in patients with defecation disorders is limited by the shape and capacity of the circular stapler. A new device has been recently developed, the Contour Transtar stapler, in order to improve the safety and effectiveness of the STARR technique. The study has been designed to confirm this declaration. METHOD From January to June 2007 a p...
